The Irish Dance Party is an interactive Irish music and dance show in Dublin city centre. Professional musicians perform well-known songs and traditional instruments, award-winning dancers deliver choreographed routines, and guests learn simple group dances. It is designed for complete beginners, couples, families and groups.
Founder Daniel O’Sullivan believed the best way to understand Irish music and dance was to become part of it.
So in 2008, he brought together championship dancers and professional traditional musicians to create a different kind of Dublin experience—one where the performers and audience share the same room, the same songs and, before long, the same dance floor.
Today, every session still follows that original idea. Guests hear live Irish songs and traditional instruments, learn the stories behind them, watch precision dance performances at close range and try simple céilí steps with patient professional guidance.
Some arrive knowing every chorus. Others have never seen Irish dancing before. Both leave having taken part.

Daniel founded The Irish Dance Party in 2008 after years of performing traditional Irish music in Dublin. A singer, guitarist, tin-whistle player and recognised storyteller, he wanted to create an experience led by working artists rather than a distant stage production.
His performance career has taken him across Ireland and the United States. On St Patrick’s Day 2015, Daniel performed for U.S. President Barack Obama at the Friends of Ireland luncheon on Capitol Hill as part of Derek Warfield and the Young Wolfe Tones.
His founding idea remains the heart of the experience: Irish culture should feel shared, social and alive—not staged at a distance.
Daniel O’Sullivan
All-Ireland champion uilleann piper, singer, guitarist and storyteller. Daniel founded the experience in 2008 and performed for President Barack Obama on Capitol Hill in 2015.
Alana
Trained with the Dawson McDonnell Academy, Alana placed second at the World Championships and has held a Dublin championship title, alongside professional stage experience.
Molly
Molly trained with the Stephanie Power School in Galway and competed internationally. Her touring career includes female lead roles with Celtic Legends and A Taste of Ireland.
Rosie
Rosie trained with Kavanagh Porter Academy, earned a Leinster title and placed at National, All-Ireland and World Championships before focusing on professional performance.
Sadhbh
A Dublin dancer with six consecutive World Championship medals, Sadhbh has performed professionally since 2018, including Johnnie Fox’s Hooley and touring productions across Europe.
Gary
Gary is a Dublin-based vocalist and musician with experience across concerts, live events and Irish dance productions. His audience-first hosting style brings every room into the show.

Impressive that one musician (Jim) could carry the music part by self, a tiny shame the dancers songs weren't live (I heard fiddler as well) but I understand the Monday Matinee show was probably not that capacity and the evening show has more musicians. Still very nice. Some kids at the weren't as into it but some were as well. No. The dancers teach simple traditional group dances step by step, so complete beginners can join comfortably. Taking part is encouraged but optional, and guests also have reserved seating between dance sessions.

The public Irish Dance Party experience lasts approximately two hours. The standard daytime session runs from 2:30pm to 4:30pm, with alternative times available for some group bookings.
